Top Tips To Have A Good Oral Hygiene
We all know how much we’d love nothing more than the perfect smile, flashing those gnashers to dazzle the people around us. It is already known that if you don’t take good care of your oral hygiene, it will lead to several dental and health problems, including and not limited to infections, gum diseases, heart diseases and further more.
If you just visit your dentist regularly for checkups and make the effort to have a good oral hygiene, then this problem can be avoided. So now that you know that good oral hygiene is half the battle won, we have a few tips for you to keep in mind.
- Brushing:
Even though many of us are aware of this, we tend to rush with our brushing early morning. Make sure you brush your teeth for at least two minutes, twice a day. Your toothbrush should be held at 45 degree angle to your teeth and the bristles should touch both your gum line and the tooth surface.
Gently move the bristles back and forth, up and down, in soft strokes, to thoroughly clean your teeth. Repeat the same motion for cleaning the inner and outer surfaces of your teeth. And don’t forget to brush the surface of your tongue along with the roof of the mouth.
- Flossing:
We know that you rush with brushing generally, but unfortunately, many of us don’t even bother to floss our teeth and flossing is crucial in helping you maintain healthy teeth and ensures a fresh breath.
This is because flossing helps you remove food particles from those places where the bristles cannot reach, so it ensures a deeper, more accurate cleaning. Also, if you don’t floss, the bacteria and germs, break down those food particles, and thus impart a bad breath apart from damaging your teeth.
- Avoid tobacco
Let us be clear, if you want a good set of teeth, you need to cut tobacco out of life. In this way, not only will you be doing a favour to your gnashers, but also doing your part in living a longer life on Earth!
Staying way from tobacco will keep you away from fatal diseases like cancer and dental problems as well. Moreover, people who consume tobacco consume a lot of harmful products to just cover up the stench that it leaves behind, like consuming candies, tea and so on. These products cause further damage to the teeth.
- Limit caffeine, soda and alcohol
These types of beverages contain a good amount of phosphorous which helps you maintain healthy teeth and gums, but we’re sure you also know that too much of anything is bad for your health.
Consuming excess of phosphorous, strips your body of calcium that is also equally important for a good oral hygiene as low calcium levels can lead to gum problems and tooth decay.
Further, these drinks can rob your teeth of their natural shine, and make them appear dull and lifeless.
